Ideas to Grow

Prayer Walking

Take one day per week or month to walk around neighborhood while asking God’s blessings upon it. Pray for personal salvations, marriage-family relationships, physical and mental healings, provision-protection-prosperity, community relationships, local town schools, businesses, and government. Be open to greeting strangers. If unable to attend a weekly meeting, this is a great way to participate!

Opening Doors

Loving your neighbor necessitates acts of kindness.  Be open to blessing your neighbor and yourself by: making a dinner, visiting the elderly or sick, mowing lawns, shoveling snow, washing a car, babysitting, assisting a home project…and more.   Open your home to a social fellowship night where local church members or neighbors can meet and develop personal relationships.  Open your heart and let others see the love of Christ made real.

Acts of love will help break down the isolation and loneliness we all feel and will open the door to true relationships, the kind Jesus sought after and seeks with us.  Perhaps Jesus will say to us one day, “remember when you did ‘that’ for me.”

Prayer Requests and Invitations

After laying a foundation of prayer over time, inquire of neighbors re: prayer needs. If a relationship is built, personally invite persons to join you in prayer one evening. Where relationships are not established, and if you are willing, place invitations around your neighborhood inviting prayer requests or participation in a weekly meeting. There are great pre-made materials, such as door-hangers, available through national ministries, such as, HOPE (Households of Prayer Everywhere) See the link to HOPE in right hand column.
